Macara is a place of encounter to get together and interchange.Everyone should feel confortable, leave the daily stress behind to find peace and recreation here.

Macara is excellently suited for group-seminaires, workshops and retreats of any kind. The quiet atmosphere and the magnificent surrounding scenery will help to enhance this.

Macara is an old farmhouse from the 18th century,completely renovated with charme and class. It has seven rooms with 15 beds, consisting of one single room,4 double rooms and 2 three bed rooms, a big kitchen and the dining hall. Additional beds can be rented in the surrounding area if required. 

We have a bright room on the second floor with parquet flooring, about 8 by 8 meters, with a beautiful view of the park.  

The quality of our food is very important to us. We're here to spoil you, and offer different types of cuisine to suit your wishes and diets. We use local produce, most of it organically grown. We welcome your suggestions! You can also cook for yourself, or bring in your favorite chef. For dietary menus (vegan, gluten-free, lactose-free, etc.) where we have to prepare additional menus, we charge a supplement of €2 per meal.

The Ariège offers plenty of possibilities for hiking with the close by Pyrenees and at hand hills. Towns with weekly markets; e.g. the medieval Mirepoix or St. Girons situated in the Pyrenees offering products for every taste from biological food to folklore articles, anything you can think of. Dramatically perched castles by the cathares( Montsegur,Roquefixade, Carcassone amongst others) are waiting to be discovered.

Toulouse, also called the pink city invites you to stroll within its romantic alleyways and historical buildings. The cultural life is rich and variegated. Cafés and restaurants spoil your palate. Exquisite stores and unique Second-hand shops inspire and seduce. Albi, Perpignan or Lourdes are other, easily accessible destinations from Unzent.

We came to the Ariège because of the magnificent scenery and the high quality of life. After we acquired Macara and got married here, we now want to utilise our exaltation combined with our life's experience to share this place of quietude with others. It is our vital concern to create space, so everyone can discover,unfold and liberate one's own creartivitiy.

Daniel brings practical experience in the construction business, the social work and tourism industry.

Yvonne, the much-travelled , former nurse is involved with the study of Yoga and Meditation since many years,and lately  also acupuncture.

Macara is about an hours drive by car from the much frequented  international airport Toulouse-Blagnac. Another, but less frequented airport lies in Carcassone( about an hour and 15 minutes by car  from Macara).

The train station Toulouse-Matabiau is conveniently accessible with the TGV. Local trains take about 40 min. to Saverdun, the nearest train station about 10 minutes from Macara away.
